2008-09 Community Service Project Throughout the year, Austin LSA is asking members to contribute canned food and other non-perishable food items for donation to the Capital Area Food Bank of Texas. A box for donations will be available at each luncheon. To print a copy of the flyer, please click here. The Capital Area Food Bank can provide 5 meals for every $1.00 donated. Update: During the May CLE luncheon 28 pounds of food was collected and $32 was donated. The members of Austin LSA, Inc. provided enough food to create 22.4 meals and cash contributions equal to 160 meals. See what we CAN do together?

AUSTIN LSA WINS NALS FOUNDERS AWARD!
The Founders Award is the "best of the best" award presented by NALS from all entries submitted. The Awards are divided into three levels. Programs in each classification and category are eligible for either a second place Cornerstone Award, or a first place Keystone Award. One program out of all the entries, among all classes and categories will be recognized as the best overall program and will receive the Founders Award. If the judges deem no entries submitted in a particular category deserve an award, none will be given. Award winners will be notified upon completion of judging. Fay Jordan, PP, PLS, TSC, presented a one hour session at the NALS Professional Development Conference on March 8, 2008, explaining how our chapter utilized the "Nuts & Bolts of Grammar" educational materials offered by NALS to chapters. All award winning programs received special recognition at the Professional Development Conference and were displayed throughout the conference, but the recognition does not end there. Award winning programs will also be featured in @LAW and on the NALS Website. This is an exciting event for Austin LSA and we are proud of Fay Jordan and all who participated in this program.
